The 2012 KidZania Champions League Soccer Tournament Kicks Off!

Mexico City, Mexico. KidZania Journal. May 8, 2012. (English). Last Friday, the 2012 KidZania Champions League Soccer Tournament kicked off in Santa Fe, Mexico City. More than 100 collaborators of the Central Government of KidZania, KidZania Santa Fe and KidZania Cuicuilco witnessed the tournament inaugurating match.

Representatives of the Ministries of Immigration, Industry Management, Finance, Technology, Commerce, Image, Food Administration and Artistic Company from KidZania Santa Fe and KidZania Cuicuilco, as well as representatives of the Central Government of KidZania make up the 6 men’s and 3 women’s teams that will compete in the following two months to be crowned as league champions.

Men’s teams “Olimpoos” and “Morita” were the lucky ones to play the inaugural match, with a final score of 4-5 in favor of “Morita”. The first women’s match took place between “Duquesas” and “Black Warriors”, where “Duquesas” were the winners.

Mr. José María Alcalá –Minister of Labor, KidZania Santa Fe–, was responsible of the inaugural speech. “Welcome to the 2012 edition of the KidZania Champions League Soccer Tournament. This tournament has been created with the objectives to live, play and strengthen our bonds as members of the great KidZania team. We hope you have fun!”, stated Alcalá.

Matches will be taking place on Fridays throughout May and June. Final match is set to be played on June 15 for both categories.
