Orange County, California. The Orange County Register. February 8, 2012. (English). Disney California Adventure will open the major Cars Land area in June, the Disney president announced Tuesday.
Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Co. president and chief executive officer, announced the opening month for the 12-acre Cars Land during a conference call with investors about quarterly earnings Tuesday.
Up until this point, Disney would only confirm that Cars Land will open in the summer, when it will conclude the $1 billion makeover project.
Last week, Al Lutz, editor of the Miceage.com Disney watchdog blog, reported that Cars Land would open June 15. But Disney officials refused to confirm a date.
Cars Land is the largest part of the five-year expansion project with three rides, a man-built mountain range, stores and restaurants that look like Radiator Springs, the fictional town in the “Cars” movies.
These are some of the park features:
For a sleepy town somewhere off of Route 66, Cars Land is packed with thrills and excitement.
- Glide on air and whirl into your pals at Luigi’s Flying Tires.
- Whip around behind a baby tractor at Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and see the giant jukebox he personally built from his prized possessions!
- Burn rubber at Radiator Springs Racers — where only the fastest hot rod can take home the Piston Cup. This 6-acre attraction is the largest at the Disneyland Resort and combines storytelling with racing thrills through Ornament Valley’s spectacular red-rock formations.
Make a pit stop and dine like a dragster. Fill ‘er up at these sustenance stations run by some of your favorite “Car-acters:”
