Marketing guru Philip Kotler visits KidZania Jakarta!

Media, industry partners, CongreZZ kidZ, Miss KidZania Jakarta, KidZania Central Government executives and other representatives assisted to this unprecedented event hosted and organized by KidZania Indonesia.

Jakarta, Indonesia. EMF. May 29, 2011. Globally renowned marketing guru Professor Philip Kotler visited KidZania Jakarta this afternoon. Mr. Kotler was received by Mr. Mohamad Riza Chalid – Chairman and CEO of PT Aryan Indonesia– and his wife, Mrs. Uchu Riza. After getting his visa, boarding pass, check and city map, Prof. Kotler was escorted by Mrs. Riza through KidZania Jakarta. The delegation then entered Metro TV Studio, where Mr. Xavier López –President of KidZania– was waiting for them. With media representatives gathered there, it was a good opportunity for Mr. López to interview Prof. Kotler. When questioned about his thoughts regarding KidZania, Prof. Kotler commented: “I’ve always said that companies have to do more than just make products and make money, they also have an impact on society. They should contribute to the education of the future generation, who will be managing the world in the future. And your system allows them to manage the world better. KidZania is the best example of a marketing 3.0 company”. Philip Kotler is a professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, where Mr. López studied his post-graduate studies. It was a great opportunity for student and professor to reunite 20 years later.

After this short interview, Prof. Kotler, Mr. López and Mrs. Riza continued their walk through KidZania Jakarta. The last stop of the tour was the Theater, where media, industry partners, CongreZZ kidZ, Miss KidZania Jakarta and other representatives were waiting for them for a press conference. The MCs were Ms. Kinez Riza and Mr. George Aly Razy, who invited Prof. Kotler, Mr. Lopez, Mrs. Riza and Mr. Hermawan Kartajaya –President of World Marketing Association–, to take their seats on stage to answer questions asked by some of the attendees.

The event, named Sunday Camp with Marketing Guru Prof. Philip Kotler was a huge success, with great media coverage and interest from the Indonesian community.

Philip Kotler is the S.C. Johnson & Son Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He received his Master’s Degree at the University of Chicago and his PhD Degree at MIT, both in economics. He did post-doctoral work in mathematics at Harvard University and in behavioral science at the University of Chicago.

Professor Kotler is the author (among other books) of: Marketing Management: Analysis, Planning, Implementation and Control, the most widely used marketing book in graduate business schools worldwide. He has published over one hundred articles in leading journals, several of which have received best-article awards. Professor Kotler has consulted for such companies as IBM, General Electric, AT&T, Honeywell, Bank of America, Merck and others in the areas of marketing strategy and planning, marketing organization and international marketing.
